To identify the target of the bacteriostatic activity of IMP-1700 against S. aureus, SH1000 and JE2 isolates were passaged with increasing concentrations of IMP-1700 for eight days. This generated S. aureus isolates with higher IMP-1700 MICs which were sent for WGS. These resistant isolates had a mutation in GyrA suggesting that DNA gyrase was the target of the growth inhibitory activity of IMP-1700.
