The data set consists of 5 tipping bucket raingauges each accompanied
by an oil topped collection raingauge and an identical raingauge with
no oil that is filled with water monthly to measure evaporation. The
five stations are in a line approximately 1.5 miles (2 km) long that
start north of the mesa on the desert floor, continue with one on the
north slope of the mesa, a station on top of the mesa, one on the
south slope and finally a station on the south desert floor. The
tipping bucket data is time of tip with no <1 second tips allowed
(heaviest rain might be missed).
