This COVID-19 event has been created by a combination of computational inference (see https://reactome.org/documentation/inferred-events) from SARS-CoV-1 data and manual curation, as described in the summation for the overall SARS-CoV-2 infection pathway.<br><br>Protein M is exclusively N-glycosylated at one asparagine by an unknown glycosyltransferase. However, further processing of N-linked glycans is prevented in infected cells. Both the glycosylated and nonglycosylated M is incorporated into the virion. In summary, glycosylation of M is neither a prerequisite for intra-cellular transport nor for recruitment into the virion (Voss et al, 2006).
