The raw data of 16S rRNA sequencing from Plagiodera versicolora larvae feeding on willow or poplar new and mature leaves

Dietary specialization enables insects to exploit diverse ecological resources at different life stages, thereby averting food competition and niche overlap, ultimately reducing intraspecific competition. Plagiodera versicolora is a pest harming Salicaceae trees. We confirmed dietary specialization in P. versicolora, wherein adults prefer new leaves, while larvae predominantly consume mature leaves when both types are available. We establish the pivotal role of gut bacteria in mediating this dietary specialization. Thus, we would like to submit the raw data of 16S rRNA sequencing from Plagiodera versicolora larvae feeding on willow or poplar new and mature leaves.
