South Florida Natural Feature Names

This dataset is a compilation of natural features in South Florida, primarily forest hammocks, with feature geometry derived from the Florida Cooperative Land Cover Map, FNAI Element Occurrence database, and new feature delineation by FNAI. FNAI researched and included place names in the Hammock Name (HAM_NAME) field. The initial focus of this work was to identify rockland hammocks by name within the Everglades and Florida Keys. The FNAI Natural Communty Guide describes the hammock types recognized by FNAI. This dataset is not a complete representation of all hammocks in south FL and does not identify place names for all features within the dataset. FNAI plans to update as time and information allow.
