资源简介:

Echoes Across the Void is a multidisciplinary inquiry into extraterrestrial intelligence, civilizational possibility, and non-human ontologies. It examines the question of whether humanity is alone through five parallel registers: astrobiology, Qur’anic theology, mystical philosophy, ethnological mythology, and cognitive comparison. The paper begins by separating the question of extraterrestrial intelligence into progressively stronger claims, from the existence of other planets and potentially habitable environments to extraterrestrial life, technological civilizations, temporal overlap, and possible visitation. It examines biosignatures, technosignatures, the Drake equation, the Fermi paradox, and the limits of present detection while emphasizing that scientific plausibility is not evidence of confirmed extraterrestrial intelligence. Alongside the scientific inquiry, the paper examines the Qur’anic category of jinn, the narratives of Dhul-Qarnayn and Yaʾjūj wa Maʾjūj, and Ibn al-ʿArabī’s imaginal realm as distinct theological and philosophical frameworks. It also documents the ethnological mythology of Gilgit-Baltistan, including Pari traditions, local cosmological vocabulary, non-human beings, ritual crossing, and traditions of guardianship, drawing on both published ethnographic material and an explicitly identified insider record. The paper's central comparative contribution is the framework of Three Postures of the Other: REACHING — seeking contact, knowledge, and encounter.CONTAINING — establishing boundaries against potential danger or disruption.GUARDING — maintaining continuous vigilance and stewardship under unresolved uncertainty. These postures are not presented as evidence of a shared supernatural or extraterrestrial reality. Rather, they provide a comparative framework for understanding recurring human responses to the possibility of a non-human Other. The paper's methodological principle is simple: Conceptual resonance is not empirical confirmation. Scientific findings, theological claims, mystical experience, ethnological mythology, and cognitive patterns are therefore treated according to their own standards of knowledge rather than collapsed into a single explanatory system. The resulting argument is one of disciplined openness: neither extraterrestrial technological civilizations nor human uniqueness can presently be established with certainty. The responsible response is to continue scientific investigation while taking theological, philosophical, and cultural traditions seriously within their proper domains.
