This study aims to conduct whole-genome resequencing of Coprinellus domesticus, a fungus isolated from an industrial wasteland in Vieux-Charmont, France, by the Chrono-environment laboratory at University Franche-Comte. As part of the EU HORIZON-BIOSYSMO project, the research seeks to uncover the genetic mechanisms responsible for the metal tolerance exhibited by C. domesticus. By performing an in-depth genomic analysis, the study intends to identify specific genes and pathways that enable this fungus to survive and thrive in environments with high levels of heavy metal contamination. The insights gained from this research are expected to significantly enhance our understanding of fungal adaptation and resilience, contributing to the development of effective bioremediation strategies and improving our ability to manage and rehabilitate polluted environments.
