Nitrogen deposition (history)

Total nitrogen deposition in 2004. Nitrogen deposition consists of ammonia (NH3) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) and derived products. From the air, this deposition strikes at the bottom. Nitrogen deposition leads to acidification and fertilisation, which reduces sensitive habitat types in areas or deteriorates in condition. An increase in nitrogen deposition may have a negative impact on the quality of habitats in the nature area.
