Surface hydraulic traits of pyrogenic carbon: an overlooked property in shaping microbial community assemblage development

The pores of pyrogenic carbon (PyChar) is believed to act as micro-niches that elevate soil water holding capacity and facilitate microbial cell residence. However, the surface hydraulic properties of PyChar, has been overlooked in terms of its role in microbial community development. A microbial community assemblage was introduced to contact the surface of PyChar, allowing to investigate microbial community responses.
