Kulliyyât-i-Khâḳânî. This manuscript is now IO Islamic 950 in the India Office collections. [metadata: Hermann Ethé, Catalogue of Persian Manuscripts in the Library of the India Office, 2 vols. (Oxford: India Office, 1903): volume 1, number 1767 here with notations and hyperlinks]. Khâḳâni (Nos. 950-970). 950 Kulliyyât-i-Khâḳânî (كلّيّات خاقانى). The complete poetical works of Afḍal-aldîn Badîl Ibrâhîm bin ‘Alî Najjâr Khâḳânî of Shirwân, who had originally the takhalluṣ of Ḥaḳâ’iḳî, which he exchanged at the suggestion of his spiritual guide Abû al’alâ Ganjawî for Khâḳânî in honour of the Khâḳân-i-Kabîr Minûćihr and his son Akhsatân or Akhtasân, comp. on some points of difficulty connected with these Haft Iḳlim, Nos. 1385 and 1397, cols. 480 and 482 in this Cat. Khâḳânî died probably A.H. 595 (A.D. 1199); another possible date is A.H. 590 (A.D. 1194), but quite impossible is A.H. 582 (A.D. 1186); see on Khâḳânî’s life and poetry especially Khanykov, Mémoire sur Khacani, in Journal Asiatique, 6me série, vol. iv. p. 137 sq. Notices, p. 157; Mélanges Asiatiques, iii. p. 114 sq., etc. Khâḳânî’s poetical works have note been lithographed in Lucknow, 1879. This copy of the Kulliyyât contains: 1.Tuḥfat-al’irâḳain (تحفة العراقين), the famous mathnawî in which the poet describes his pilgrimage from Shirwân to Makkah and Madînah and his way back, with special reference to the two ‘Irâḳs, i.e. ‘Irâḳ-i-’ajam and ‘Irâḳ-i-’arab, beginning with a prose preface, on fol. 1b:خير ما اعتصم المرء بحباله كلمة العجز الخ. Beginning of the mathnawî itself, on fol. 4a: مائيم نظارگان غمناك – زين حقّۀ سبز و مهرۀ خاك The contents of this mathnawî have been given in detail by Khanykov in his Mémoire (quoted above), pp. 173-179; see also Wiener, Jahrbücher, vol. 64, Anzeigeblatt, pp. 16-18. It has been lithographed in Agra, 1855, and in Lucknow, 1876; extracts from it have also been printed in Lahore, 1867. 2.Diwân (ديوان), containing ḳaṣîdas, tarjî’bands, ḳiṭ’as, and ghazals, all mixed together without any order, on fol. 91b, beginning: دل من پير تعليمست و من طفل زبان دانش الخ. A second, anonymous, mathnawî, noticed in the Kulliyyât-i-Khâḳânî, Bodleian Cat., No. 560, is not found in this copy. Dated the 13th of Ṣafar, A.H. 1007 (A.D. 1598, Sept. 15). No. 1767, ff. 407, 2 coll., each ll. 19; Nasta’lîḳ; illuminated frontispieces on ff. 1b and 91b; size, 111/2 in. by 63/8 in.
