Here, we identified and characterized loss of axillary meristems (lam), an EMS-induced mutant of the diploid strawberry Fragaria vesca that lacked stamens in flowers and had reduced numbers of branch crowns and runners. The lam mutant was crossed with its parent YW to generate the F2 population. Equal amounts of young leaves were pooled from 20 F2 mutants and 20 F2 wild-type segregants to extract the genomic DNA using a CTAB method, respectively. A total of 6G paired-end reads at 150 bp were generated for each group using the Illumina HiSeq X Ten platform (Biomarker Technologies, Beijing). The data was analyzed by using our established pipeline to identify the causative gene .
