This study investigates the molecular mechanisms of blue light-induced damage in ARPE-19 cells, a model for retinal pigment epithelial cells, to better understand the cellular pathways involved in light-mediated retinal degeneration. Using RNA sequencing, we aimed to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in cells exposed to blue light irradiation compared to untreated controls. Pathway enrichment analysis was conducted to explore the involvement of various cell death mechanisms, such as ferroptosis, necrosis, apoptosis, and autophagy. The study seeks to uncover key molecular pathways contributing to blue light-induced cellular damage, with the goal of providing insights into the pathogenesis of retinal diseases and informing potential therapeutic strategies.
