Datasets used to study the effects of neutering (including spaying) in increasing the incidence of joint disorders and cancers in Australian Cattle Dogs, Australian Shepherds, Beagles, Bernese Mountain Dogs, Border Collies, Boston Terriers, Boxers, Bulldogs, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Chihuahuas, Cocker Spaniels, Collies, Corgis, Dachshunds, Doberman Pinschers, English Springer Spaniels, German Shepherds, Golden Retrievers, Great Danes, Irish Wolfhounds, Jack Russell Terriers, Labrador Retrievers, Malteses, Miniature Schnauzers, Pomeranians, Poodles (3 varieties), Pugs, Rottweilers, Saint Bernards, Shetland Sheepdogs, Shih Tzus, West Highland White Terriers, Yorkshire Terriers, and 5 weight categories of mixed breed dogs: small (<10kg), medium (10-19kg), standard (20-29kg), large (30-39kg), and giant (40+kg). Veterinary hospital records from the University of California, Davis were examined for dogs ranging from ages 1 to 11 for the effects of neutering during the specified age ranges: before 6 mo., and during 6-11 mo., during 1 year and in years 2 through 8. The diseases examined were hip dysplasia, CCL tear, elbow dysplasia, lymphosarcoma, mast cell tumor, hemangiosarcoma, osteosarcoma, mammary cancer, pyometra, and urinary incontinence.
