Fecal microbiome of monkeys on a high-fat diet and treated with Niemann-Pick C1-Like 1 antisense oligonucleotide

The Biliary Cholesterol Study used a Niemann-Pick C1-Like 1 (NPC1L1) antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) throughout the duration of the study to reduce NPC1L1 mRNA in the liver, which was hypothesized to reduce biliary cholesterol secretion (Temel et al., 2007). The study design consisted of first a chow diet and then high-fat diet with low cholesterol (0.04 percent w per w or 0.1 mg per kcal) (HFD-LC), and samples were taken only at the completion of the study.
