Internal portal of the Nature Protection Information System

The Nature Protection Information System is a set of databases, application solutions and web services intended for storing, maintaining and sharing data related to different components of biological and landscape diversity and the protection of nature in the Republic of Croatia. The internal portal of the Nature Protection Information System of the Republic of Croatia serves to exchange information and strengthen the capacity of workers in the nature protection sector. The beneficiaries are thus exclusively employees of the sector (state administration, regional self-government and public institutions in nature protection). Technology used: Java/PostgreSQL/Drupal Legal person: In accordance with the obligation laid down in Article 196 of the Nature Protection Act (NN No 80/13), the Croatian Environmental and Nature Agency (HAOP), the legal successor of the State Institute for Nature Protection (DZZP), “establishes and manages the Nature Protection Information System of the Republic of Croatia, respecting internationally accepted standards and obligations”. Over the years, the Agency has taken over and regularly maintains certain databases owned by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Energy (GIS databases: Protected areas of the Republic of Croatia and the Habitats Map of Croatia) and coordinated the development of several thematic bases related to nature protection, some of which are also available online.
