Canis Major the closest dwarf galaxy
收藏资源简介:
We.ve shown in our recent Xray studies of the Draco, Willman 1, Sagittarius(Sgr) dwarf spheroidal galaxies (dSphs) that the Xray population in these veryold and faint galaxies is very different from that in other Local Group galaxiesand is dominated by accreting white dwarfs (AWDs)\\: at least four AWDs in theDraco dSph, one in Willman 1 dSph, and ten in the center of Sgr dSph. Opticaland infrared studies show that the closet dwarf galaxy, Canis Major (CMa), hasan old massive core mainly populated by red giant branch (RGBs) stars. Wepropose to observe the center of CMa dwarf galaxy, which have not been yetobserved in X rays in order to analyse AWDs using Xray and multiwavelengthdata, and to perform a comparative study of the Xray luminosity function of AWDs of dwarf galaxies. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
