Whole Exome Sequencing of Paired Colorectal Carcinomas and Synchronous Liver Metastases

This study used the whole exome sequencing to analyze somatic mutational spectrum in retrospectively collected pairs of primary tumors and synchronous liver metastases from surgically treated patients with colorectal carcinomas. Mutational profiles were assessed and compared among groups of patients stratified by response to chemotherapy and survival. In total, the study utilized sample pairs from 20 patients diagnosed and treated at a single center in Pilsen, Czech Republic. Our goal is to provide a lead for studies focused on biomarker discovery, functional characterization and utilization of genomics findings in a precision oncology of colorectal carcinoma.
