Pneumococcal strains collected from 30 healthy asymptomatic adults in Liverpool who had volunteered to take part in clinical research were screened for antibiotic susceptibility to erythromycin and tetracycline and had their genome sequenced. Those strains resistance to one or both of these antibiotics were bioinformatically characterized to define the genetic basis of their resistome and mobilome.
