This project provides 16S rDNA gene sequencing data to characterize the microbiome associated with endometrial carcinoma (EC). The dataset profiles microbial communities from three key sites: (1) endometrial tumor tissue, (2) histologically normal adjacent endometrial tissue, and (3) the vaginal cavity. By comparing these niches, this study aims to delineate the local tumor microenvironment, identify microbial dysbiosis specific to cancerous tissue, and explore potential trans-cervical microbial relationships between the vagina and the endometrium in EC. The paired design of tissue and vaginal samples offers a valuable resource for investigating the role of specific bacteria and community structures in endometrial carcinogenesis, with potential implications for understanding disease etiology, biomarker discovery, and future therapeutic strategies.
