资源简介:

This research study presents a dataset from an exploratory, observational, descriptive, cross- sectional study, the objective of which was to analyze clinical management regarding the indication for deep cervical margin elevation in eligible patients, treated in the periodontal surgery department of the Dr. René Puig Bentz Dental Clinic at the Pedro Henríquez Ureña National University (UNPHU), during the periods September–December 2025 and January–April 2026. This research arose from the need to identify clinical criteria for indicating deep cervical flap elevation in cavities with subgingival margins, given that this technique may represent a less invasive therapeutic alternative to crown lengthening, promoting the preservation of tooth structure, the maintenance of supracrestal space, and periodontal health. The research hypothesis posits that deep cervical flap surgery constitutes a less invasive alternative to crown lengthening in some patients referred to the periodontal surgery department, thereby supporting evidence-based clinical decision-making. The dataset consists of clinical information from 15 eligible patients, selected through convenience sampling, who were evaluated for the indication of deep cervical margin elevation or crown lengthening. Data were collected using a clinical form validated by experts, informed consent, clinical periodontal evaluation, probing with the North Carolina periodontal probe, and radiographic examination. The following variables were recorded: sex, age, dental group, distance between the cervical margin and the alveolar ridge, type of carious lesion, radiographic findings, and indicated treatment. Subsequently, the information was organized and analyzed using descriptive statistics, including frequencies and percentages. The results showed that 46.67% of the patients were treated with deep cervical recontouring, while 53.33% received crown lengthening. Among the patients for whom deep cervical margin elevation was indicated, the following characteristics predominated: female gender, patients aged 40 years or older, a distance of 3 to 4 mm between the cervical margin and the alveolar ridge, and Class III carious lesions; these were identified as the primary clinical criteria for indicating the technique. . The data obtained support the research hypothesis by demonstrating that deep cervical flap surgery is a viable, less invasive, conservative treatment option for appropriately selected patients. This dataset facilitates an understanding of the clinical criteria used to indicate this technique, and can serve as a reference for future research in restorative dentistry and periodontics, as well as to support evidence-based clinical decision-making.
