Dataset of Lunpola Basin, central Tibetan Plateau

The Lunpola Basin is located in the middle of the BNS, which stretches east-west between the Qiangtang and Lhasa Blocks. This Tertiary rift basin has an elongated shape with an E-W length of about 220 km and N-S width of 15-20 km. Cenozoic sediments in the basin can be up to 4000-m thick consisting of the Niubao and Dingqing Formations with a Cretaceous basement. Magnetic properties of lake sediments are sensitive to paleoclimate changes and can provide a fascinating tool for paleoclimate reconstruction. We investigated the environmental magnetism from the Lunpola Basinz.
