Compared to the microbial composition, differentially expression genes (DEGs) and differentially function during activated sludge degraded 5000 mg/L and 20000 mg/L petroleum hydrocarbon, activated sludge mainly to response and adapt the stress of high-concentration petroleum hydrocarbon through shifted the community structure of microbial and regulated the function abundance of related metabolism (such as transcription, cell wall/membrane/envelope biogenesis, amino acid transport and metabolism, signal transduction metabolisms, carbohydrate transport and metabolism). Therefore, this study provides a theoretical guidance for applying microbiological method to degrading high-concentration petroleum hydrocarbon.
