IN2016_V03 Pacific Ocean Bathymetry 5m - 210m Multi-resolution AusSeabed products

This layer group describes multibeam echosounder data collected on RV Investigator voyage IN2016_V03 titled "Monitoring Ocean Change and Variability along 170 W from the ice edge to the equator". The voyage took place between April 26 and June 30, 2016, departing from Hobart (TAS) and arriving in Lautoka (Fiji). There was a port call at Wellington, New Zealand, 26 - 27 May for some science personnel change; this resulted in two "legs" of the voyage therefore Leg 1 is 26 April - 26 May 2016, and Leg 2 27 May - 30 June 2016.\n\nThe purpose of this voyage was to obtain repeat observations from the line P15S that is part of the international GO-SHIP repeat global survey network.\n\nThis dataset is published with the permission of CSIRO. Not to be used for navigational purposes.\n\nThe dataset contains bathymetry grids of 5m to 210m resolution of the Pacific Ocean along 170 W from the ice edge to the equator produced from the processed EM122 and EM710 bathymetry data.\nLineage: Multibeam data was logged from the EM’s in Kongsberg’s proprietary *.all format and was converted to be processed within Caris HIPS and SIPS version 9.1.1 and 8.1.8 for comparison of the new Caris 9 release. Once the raw files were converted into the HIPS and SIPS format the data was analysed for noise. Zerotide was applied, and the lines were merged using the vessel file appropriate for either the EM122 or EM710. The data was then gridded at the highest resolution possible and further inspected for outliers. Caris 8.1.8 job was discontinued after leg one due to there not being any issues identified with Caris 9.1.1.\n\nThe data was then gridded at multiple resolutions in python Caris batch script using a Depth filter Vs Resolution guideline derived from AusSeabed Multibeam guidelines v2 and further inspected for outliers. Final raster products are available in L3 folder of this collection. Final processed data were also exported per line as GSF and ASCII format and available in the L2 folder of this collection.\n
