He discusses the following: World War I and military conscription from age 15; exemption from conscription if a man was married to foreign woman or woman from al-Ta‘amra Bedouin tribe; never heard of any rebellion against the Ottomans other than the Great Arab Revolt of 1916; Ottomans took control over political jobs – there were no jobs for Arabs; people suffered from poverty but social relations were good with Christians and Muslims living together as one; locust plague; worsening of the situation in Palestine.
