Urban Center Database 2025 - GHSL & Infrastructure

The GHS Urban Centre Database (GHS-UCDB) describes spatial entities called “Urban Centres” described through a set of multi-temporal thematic attributes from the GHSL data combined with other free and open data sets. The UCDB is a global dataset of over 10,000 urban centers developed by the European Commission, providing multi-temporal and multi-thematic information based on a globally harmonized methodology. It supports global monitoring of policy frameworks and provides data for urban studies. Resolution is 1km. This Layer covers the GHSL (built-up statistics) and Infrastructure thematic domains. Under these the GHS-UCDB groups a variety of families and indicators, further divided in specific attributes, multitemporal (1975-2040). Attributes include built-up surface, height & volume, population growth rate, roads length & density, critical infrastructures spatial index (CISI).
