Gene expression profiling analysis of blood samples

Blood samples were collected from 13 healthy controls, 13 obese patients with normal insulin sensitivity and 13 metabolic syndrome patients with insulin resistance. These participants were all male. Approximately 2.5 ml of venous blood was collected and blood was used to extract RNA for gene expression profiling analysis. Data sets for differential analysis of gene expression levels between insulin-sensitive obese patients versus controls are provided in the 'obesity vs control' file. Data sets for differential analysis of gene expression levels between insulin-resistant metabolic syndrome patients versus controls are provided in the 'metabolic syndrome vs control' file.
