Global predicted data and risk assessment of PFAS concentrations in water and fish for the period 2000 - 2020

Per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), known as "forever chemicals," are pervasive globally and present a significant risk to ecosystems and human health. The database comprised 166,518 records of the PFAS concentration in water and fish globally. Subsequently, machine learning was employed to generate the inaugural global maps of PFAS concentrations in water and fish from 2000 to 2020 at a resolution of 1°. Ultimately, based on the predicted data, a global-scale assessment of PFAS-associated health risks was conducted. These findings offer invaluable insights into the distribution and risk of PFAS worldwide, contributing to strategies for PFAS control.
全氟和多氟烷基物质(Per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances, PFAS),又称“永久化学物质”,在全球范围内广泛分布,对生态系统与人类健康均构成显著风险。本数据集收录了全球范围内水体与鱼类中全氟和多氟烷基物质浓度的166518条记录。随后,研究借助机器学习方法生成了首套分辨率为1°、覆盖2000年至2020年的全球水体与鱼类全氟和多氟烷基物质浓度分布图。最终,基于预测得到的数据,本研究开展了全球尺度的全氟和多氟烷基物质相关健康风险评估。本研究结果为全球范围内全氟和多氟烷基物质的分布与风险情况提供了极具价值的认知,可为全氟和多氟烷基物质的管控策略制定提供有力支撑。
