Listeria monocytogenes is an important foodborne pathogen. Infection of humans with this bacterium through contaminated food leads to listeriosis. N2306 is a L. monocytogenes strain isolated from a Swiss listeriosis outbreak in 2014. Our objective is to determine the genome sequence of this strain and compared it to other sequenced L. monocytogenes genomes to identify genetic elements associated with virulence and stress resistance in this bacterium.
