This printed report was submitted by the East-Aust. Pipeline Corporation Ltd. It presents the preliminary environmental impact statement for the proposed large diameter, underground natural gas transmission pipeline which the Corporation planned to construct between Moomba in South Australia and the Sydney Region of New South Wales. The Statement also considers three smaller diameter lateral lines which were to serve established demand centres in the Sydney region and the south-eastern part of the State as well. The purpose of this report was to present an analysis of the environmental impact of the Project on the study areas of population, land use, archaeology, aesthetics, wildlife, vegetation, soils, meteorology, hydrology, geology and seismology with evaluation of effects over the short and long term. This report was prepared by Dames and Moore-Crooks Mitchell Peacock Stewart Pty Ltd for the East-Aust. Pipeline Corporation Limited. It bears the departmental reference "Tube 47".
