VPRS 9480 Minute Books (Refer to VPRS 2151 for 1906 to 1977)

These volumes of minutes recorded the meetings of the State Rivers and Water Supply Commission when it met under the Water Act 1905 (5 Edw VII, No.2016). Although the minutes covered a wide range of policy, operational and administrative matters, they were not detailed. The level of detail in the minutes was determined by the Commission at its first meeting, on 14 and 15 May 1906. That meeting resolved that the minutes would record only business definitely transacted and decisions arrived at, but not the discussions leading thereto.Another resolution at the same meeting determined the nature of the matters that would come before the Commission and so be recorded in the minutes. The meeting resolved that the Chairman would have supervision of the Commissions two branches, Engineering and Finance, subject to the Commission being consulted on all questions of importance, that affect matters of public policy, or that would create precedents, and the Commission may, at any time, exercise the right to decide any question.
