The short survey on reforms to the healthcare system was conducted by forsa on behalf of the Press and Information Office of the Federal Government. During the survey period from 01.07.2024 to 08.07.2024, German-speaking people aged 14 and over were surveyed in telephone interviews (CATI) on the following topics: attitudes towards hospital and emergency reforms, satisfaction with various areas of life and living conditions in their own region. Respondents were selected using a multi-stage random sample as part of the forsa multi-topic survey (Politik-BUS), including landline and mobile phone numbers (dual-frame sample).<br>Part 1 Satisfaction with various areas of life (overall life, financial situation, quality of life in Germany, health care in Germany and social security in Germany); reasons for satisfaction with health care in Germany (open); reasons for dissatisfaction with health care in Germany; Assessment of living conditions in the region in various areas (road conditions, provision of public transport, provision of fast internet, provision of doctors, provision of hospitals, shopping facilities for daily needs, wages and salaries, childcare facilities in nurseries and daycare centers, cultural and leisure facilities, range of jobs); hospitalization in the last two years; satisfaction with medical treatment in hospital; complicated treatments: all hospitals in Germany offer similarly good care vs. there are major differences; basic care: all hospitals in Germany offer similarly good care vs. there are major differences; preference for the nearest hospital or a specialized hospital in the case of complicated treatment; accepted travel time from home to a specialized hospital. Part 2 Level of knowledge of the planned hospital reform (know what the federal government has planned, have heard about it, but do not know any details, have not heard about it yet); evaluation of the hospital reform; level of knowledge of the planned emergency reform (know what the federal government has planned, have heard about it, but do not know any details, have not heard about it yet); evaluation of the emergency reform as a whole; evaluation of various proposals within the framework of the hospital and emergency reform (hospitals should not only receive money for treated cases, but also for providing staff and equipment, bureaucracy and documentation obligations should be reduced, complicated treatments should not be offered in every hospital, but only in hospitals that have the necessary staff and technology, the emergency departments of hospitals should be relieved by making doctors available outside office hours in case of acute need). Demography: sex; age (grouped); employment; education; party preference in the next federal election; voting behavior in the last federal election. Additionally coded were: Serial number; federal state; income level low, medium, high (net equivalent income); city size; weighting factor.
