Introduction.
The study investigated the tensile strength of temporary zinc oxide cement reinforced with 23% ethanolic extract of propolis in upper premolars.
Hypothesis Formulation
Propolis extract 23% binds to zinc oxide temporary cement without significantly altering the tensile strength properties.
Results
Group A showed a tensile strength of 12.3 ± 6.5 MPa and a maximum load of 118 ± 58N. Group B showed a resistance of 15.9 ± 3.2 MPa and a maximum load of 134 ± 47N. No statistically significant differences (P>0.05) were found between the groups according to the Wilcoxon test.
Conclusions
The addition of 23% ethanolic extract of propolis to zinc oxide temporary cement does not significantly modify the tensile properties.
