Identification of insect specific viruses in mosquitoes collected from wildlife and rural areas in North-Eastern parts of South Africa using a metagenomic RNA sequencing approach

This project aims to detect and chracterize viruses presnt in mosquitoes collected from wildlife and rural areas in South Africa using a viral metagenomics approach. Mosquito pools wee subjected to high-throughput sequencing to identify known and potentially novel RNA viruses, with a focus on arboviruses of public and veteinary health importance.
