Longitudinal Study of Skin Microbiota in Equine Pastern Dermatitis

Equine pastern dermatitis (EPD) is a multifactorial syndrome assumed to be related to the chronic exposure to moisture as predisposing or primary factor. The aim of this study was to examine the influence of meteorological factors on the development of EPD lesions and bacterial skin microbiota. A prospective, longitudinal cohort study with six Franches-Montagnes stallions was therefore conducted.
