LA collected waste for waste-to-energy incineration in England 2001-2023

Local authorities in England collected nearly 12 million metric tons of waste for waste-to-energy incineration (EfW) in the year ended March 31, 2023. The volume of waste collected for EfW has increased roughly five-fold since the turn of the century. The estimated gross electricity generated by energy-from-waste incinerators in the UK surpassed 10 terawatt-hours in recent years.
