Young M.26 apple plants were grown in the greenhouse for 6 weeks in Apple Replant Disease (ARD) affected soils from 151 different locations in Germany. Samples of each soil that were disinfected through gamma-irradiation served as ARD-unaffected controls. The expression of 90 candidate genes and 4 reference genes (ACT7, EF1a, EF1b, TUBB) was analyzed by RT-qPCR in the roots of plants grown in 151 different soils and the leaves of plants grown in 18 different soils.
