To explore specific taxa significantly associated with chronic bacterial osteomyelitis (and nonbacterial osteomyelitis (CNO)), this study conducted shotgun metagenome sequencing (>10 Gb per sample) of bulk DNA extracted from saliva of patients of the chronic bacterial osteomyelitis (N=5) and chronic nonbacterial osteomyelitis (CNO) (N=10), and compared the metagenome data in terms of taxonomic and functional composition with those of healthy controls (N=5).
