The Fire Product: Vegetation Regeneration in Greece was part of the
International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme Data and Information
System (IGBP-DIS) Regional Satellite Fire Data Compilation CD-ROM.
The data are those used for the European project PHOENIX EV5V-0025, a
GIS Decision Support System for the prevention of desertification
resulting from forest fires. It was a collaborative project between:
the Institute of Mediterranean Forest Ecosystems, Greece
the National Technical University of Athens, Greece
the Institute of Digital Image Processing, Austria
the University of Surrey, U.K.
and funded by the Council of the European Communities.
The data set presented here consists of:
Landsat TM data, bands 2, 3 and 4, dated 14 Sept 1993. Original
Landsat digital numbers have been calibrated, atmospherically and
topographically corrected, and geocoded.
An image file over Attica showing 4 main fire affected regions.
Large scale images showing the 4 subregions: Barnabas, Pateras, Lavrio
and Penteli. In each of these, the regions of interest are demarcated
by a boundary.
