Increasing interest in profiling distinct species of small RNAs in an unbiased manner has made RNASeq the leading choice for discovery work in the circulating biomarker field. Challenges, such as known biases associated with small RNASeq, compounded by low RNA inputs associated with biofluids have been an impediment to the wide-spread adoption of this technology. We assessed the performance of three commonly used small RNASeq kits across two different sites and tested three downstream validation platforms (Abcam-Fireplex, HTG EdgeSeq, Qiagen-miRNome). The results provide a comprehensive analysis of small RNASeq kit performance and validation of these findings in three downstream technologies.
