Mapping Africa in Graduate Dissertations: A Citation Study

Shared findings with African Studies scholars and librarians on our bibliometric study which explored journal usage and analyzed 11,247 citations from 50 BTAA graduate dissertations and situated findings within debates on the decolonization of knowledge. The study contributes insights on scholarly communication between sociology and area studies, as well as the (in)visibility of African journals and scholarship in U.S. sociology dissertations and offers implications for librarians.
