Effects of leptin supplementation on pancreatic islet miRNA expression in ob/ob mice

Ob/ob mice are characterized by a defect in leptin synthesis. In this study, the contribution of leptin deficiency to the deregulation of miRNA expression in ob/ob mice was determined by comparing leptin infused ob/ob mice to saline control. Diabetic ob/ob mice of 3 months of age were treated with leptin (intraperitonealy injection of 350µg per day ) or 0.9% NaCl (Control) during 21 days. Pancreatic islets were isolated at the end of the treatment period.
