Immediately after sciatic nerve transection, rats received intraperitoneal injection of the BDNF antiserum (10 ��l/gram body weight, n = 4) or normal sheep serum (n = 4). One week after the serum injection, DRG sections were stained for GAP-43 and phosphorylated Erk. The number of GAP-43+ and p-Erk+ neurons were counted and calculated against total number of neurons.*p
