North Carolina Annexations

The North Carolina Municipal Annexations layer was created to support the state and federal need for a statewide single source of data for annexations. It is updated as municipalities share annexation data with the state. Since sharing of annexations is a voluntary process, the local data source will always remain the authoritative source. Consult local data for most up to date and accurate dataset. CGIA works throughout the year to collect updates from local governments, and users can consult the data attributes to view the most recent date the data was edited. Data collection began in 2025.
