Unveiling Systemic Responses in Kidney Transplantation: Interplay between the Allograft Transcriptome and Serum Proteins

We explored a direct association between the kidney allograft phenotype and serum protein signatures. Time-matched samples of graft biopsies and blood serum were collected in a heterogenous cohort of kidney transplanted patients (n=15) for bulk RNA sequencing and proteomics, respectively. Human kidney allograft biopsies (n=15, healthy and rejecting) were digested and processed for RNA sequencing. A matched blood sample was used for proteomics, so that changes in the graft RNA landscape could be correlated with blood serum proteins.
