Images and Report from a Watching Brief at the Barn to the Southwest of Blossom Cottage, Starbotton, Skipton, North Yorkshire, March 2024

This collection comprises images and a report from a watching brief at the barn to the southwest of Blossom Cottage, Starbotton, Skipton, North Yorkshire. This work was undertaken by Archaeological Services WYAS in March 2024. No archaeological remains were observed during the watching brief and there is no indication that the area monitored has deviated in function since its creation as a toft in the medieval period. The lack of cut features (including plough furrows) combined with the nature of the underlying geology may indicate that the field was unsuitable for cultivation and was used for keeping livestock.
