资源简介:
Photograph of a painting by Carl Oscar Borg entitled "Commerce of the Pacific, the era of the Boston sailing ships", which depicts the trade of hides and tallow for silk, 1900. The back of the photoprint reads "For West Ways", likely referring to West Ways Magazine. The painting is set on the beach, and a team of oxen and men can be seen moving hides towards the water's edge, where they are being carried out to a waiting dinghy. A large three-masted ship is further out in the harbor. In the foreground, two men, one with a broad brimmed hat and the other holding a list, supervise the activity below them. In front of them are boxes and barrels, one of which bears the letters "XX".
