The extended Algerian forest fires dataset

Specific subject area: This dataset involves the area of forest fires data related to meteorological observations and the fire danger rating system indices.

Description: Given the limited temporal and geographical scope of the initial Algerian forest fires dataset that includes 244 instances, we have constructed a new extended dataset that includes 1215 instances. It contents 12 variables (attributes), namely the meteorological observations (four weather parameters, namely temperature, RH, ws and rain), the six components of the FWI Canadian system, the fire classes (“fire” and “not fire”) and the date variable.

The new extended dataset (1215 instances) regroups a data of nine regions of Algeria: Tizi Ouzou (north center), Bejaia (northeast), Bouira (north center), Khenchela (extreme east), Tiaret (west), Setif (east), Blida (north center), Sidi-Bel-Abbess (northwest), and Tipaza (north). For the data periods, we have considered three years (2012, 2017 and 2021): Form June 2021 to September 2021, for Tizi Ouzou, Bejaia, Bouira, Khenchela, Tiaret, Setif and Blida regions; from June 2017 to September 2017 for Tipaza region, and from June 2012 to September 2021 for Bejaia and Sidi-Bel-Abbess regions. The extended Algerian forest fires dataset includes 1215 instances (971 new instances and the 244 instances of the initial dataset). The 1215 have been classified as 633 ‘fire’ classes and 582 ‘not fire’ classes.
