Fifteen bulk soil samples from the South Fork Ogden River and the Ogden
River in northern Utah were examined for charcoal and other macrofloral remains.
These samples were recovered from Holocene floodplain sediments. Samples were
floated to recover charcoal and other potentially radiocarbon datable material.
Representative pieces of charcoal were pulled and sent to Spectrum Petrographics
for thin-section slides of the charcoal cross-sections. These pieces were pulled
from groups of identified charcoal sent for radiocarbon dating. The thin-section
slides were photographed to provide documentation for radiocarbon dated charcoal.
