Global data on tail abnormalities in geckos and environmental metrics

This database comprises 136,069 gecko records classified for the presence or absence of tail abnormalities, spanning 122 genera and sourced from iNaturalist. Each entry integrates geographic, temporal, taxonomic, annual climate variables (precipitation, thermal amplitude, solar radiation), and PM2.5 concentrations, matched to the nearest pollution monitoring site. Environmental data were extracted from WorldClim 2.1 and a global air pollution dataset, enabling investigation of how broad-scale environmental gradients and air quality influence the occurrence of caudal abnormalities in geckos. We also included R scripts used for data edition and analysis.
