Based on the atmospheric model WRF and the oceanic model POM, an air-sea coupled model for the South China Sea region was developed. The model domain covers 0°N to 30°N and 97°E to 135°E, including partial areas of the western Pacific and the entire South China Sea. The seabed topography data for the model is sourced from the 30-arcsecond grid dataset of GEBCO (General Bathymetric Chart of the Ocean) and adjusted using in-situ survey data. The minimum and maximum water depths configured for the model are set to 10 meters and 5500 meters, respectively. Lateral boundary conditions are derived from 1/6° quasi-global HYCOM forecast results. The forecast system operates four times daily at 00:00, 06:00, 12:00, and 18:00 UTC, with a forecast lead time of 120 hours. The forecasted variables include sea surface height, water temperature, salinity, and current field, among others. The products have an average horizontal resolution of 4 arcminutes (approximately 7.2 km) and a temporal resolution of 1 hour, which is capable of resolving major dynamic processes in the South China Sea.
